The type of restaurant is described as “ Cafe Aman ”, as such restaurants were called in the begining of last century mainly in Smyrni, the predominantly greek populated city at the seashore of Asia Minor. Greeks living in the past in Smyrni as well as in Polis ( The City ), as Konstantinople is still called in Greece, developed a renown, spicy cuisine which is very popular even nowadays. “ Konstantina’s Ontas ”, or “ ONTAS ’’, as it is now widely known, is offering a rich variety of dishes prepared according to old recipes of this famous cuisine. The live music played every night in ONTAS is of the same traditional background. The predominant style is that of “ rebetika songs ”, a popular music developed in the cities of Piraeus and Athens in the first decades of last century, under the influence of musicians and song makers from Asia Minor, when they came to Greece as refugees , in the early twenties. Once a week authentic old greek music from Asia Minor and Konstantinople is played in ONTAS as well ( Politika and Smyrneika songs ).
